For the last in our Local Heroes features from Kings Nympton Primary
School, Linda Greetham has been talking to the Executive Head
teacher Victoria Fenemore.
How long have you been teaching? 27 years, I
completed my BEd Hons in Bangor, North Wales. I
then moved to Crawley with my partner and taught
there and in London for 4 years. In 2001 I moved to
Devon and have been here ever since.
How long have you been teaching at Kings
Nympton Primary school? I have been Executive
Head of the Woodland Federation for 6 years
What made you become a teacher? I always
wanted to be a teacher from a young age. I had a teacher that
inspired me when I was 7 years old and I know the positive innuence
teachers can have on children with their aspirations and learning
journey.
What do you 昀椀nd most rewarding about your job? Seeing the
children thrive and grow from pre school to Year 6. I am very proud
of the close links we have with other maintained schools who often
seek to learn from our highly regarded practice.
What is a typical day for you? There is never a typical day! Once I
have sorted breakfast for our 2 teenage sons I9m usually at my desk
by 7:15 preparing for the day. Every day is different and has its own
rewards and challenges.
What is the best time of the school day? Meeting and greeting
the children when they come in in the mornings and seeing the
smiles on their faces. It9s such a lovely way to start the day.
Have you had any amusing incidents over the years you would
like to share? On a residential to London a couple of years ago we
heard noises coming from a room at 2:00am. On investigation, we
found the children were all dressed, back packs on their backs and
ready for the day ahead. We calmly (I think it was calmly!!) told
them they needed to get back to bed for a few more hours!
