IN MEMORIAM
Margaret Gammack passed away peacefully at home in
South Ash on 20th July 2025, aged 88 years. Margaret
and Angus were together for 66 years, and spent most
of their married life at The Old Rectory in Stockleigh
English. In 2021 they moved to Kings Nympton to be
nearer their son Bob. Margaret had ove children. She
was a much loved mother, grandmother and great
grandmother who will be remembered fondly by all her
family and friends.
Following the success of our VE Day commemorations,
VJ Day celebrated 80 years since the end of the War in
the Far East. For the orst time, we remembered those
with connections living in the parish who died in the
Burma Campaign :
Private Ivan Henry Tucker No 1 Commando and the
Devonshire Regiment (Anthony Tucker's uncle)
Private Robert Carter The Sherwood
Foresters (Jean Harris's uncle)
Private Hubert Judd 2nd Battalion The Welch Regiment (Lorraine
Pailthorpe's great uncle/Katie’s great great uncle)
Sergeant Jack Willcox Somerset Light Infantry (Chris
Willis’s Uncle).
The evening continued
entertainment from the
South Molton Town Band
(under the direction of
Chris Willis) and a pasty
supper, before a showing
of `Dad9s Army - the Film
of the Play of the TV
Series9 and an award
ceremony that celebrated
the artistic talent behind the production!
