CARIBBEAN NIGHT!!
Ever since last
year9s Safari
Supper (the only complaint we got was that the cocktails
were too strong!!) the Hall committee has been looking
for a way to put potent cocktails at the heart of an
evening9s entertainment. So (unless you were the person
who thought they were too potent!!)
you won9t want to miss our
Caribbean evening on June 20th.
*Alongside rum based frivolity and authentic
Caribbean food (take a bow Sophia) we9ve got
amazing entertainment in the shape of reggae
and world music band Lionstar. The band is built
around their charismatic dreadlocked singer and
guitarist Ron Unity, who spoke to Nympton News
just ahead of a raucous gig in Bude.
Ron : we9re a seven piece family band - my
dad's in the band, big brothers in the band
and then we9ve got female vocals, we9ve got
percussion, bass, drums and keys . We're
World/ Rock /Fusion/ Reggae/ Ska - we've
supported UB40, Bad Manners, Soul II Soul.
We've played all over Europe -Holland,
Belgium, Austria. Further aoeld India and
Malaysia. We9ve recorded an album with
producer Richard Digby-Smith, who's worked with Bob Marley and Led
Zeppelin a lot. That was our debut album and now we're just about to
release the second album in July - and we're coming to play for you
guys in June!
NN : so what can people expect when they come?
Ron : A lively, great party - that's what we're best known for - we just like
bring full positive vibrations and keep playing till everyone's tired from
dancing
NN :so who are your musical innuences?
Ron : oh wow that's a big question - Santana, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley,
Led Zeppelin, Jimmi Hendrix -the list goes on you know - all different
genres. If it's a great song, for me it's a great song. And in terms of
