New signs have
appeared4put up by
the Parish Council4
warning motorists not
to venture down
Tongue Lake Lane and
the track that links the
road out of the village
to Spittle Farm (see
map). You might think
this is nanny statist, but I have seen the back end of a delivery
van disappearing round the corner of the track from Wooda
Bridge, and I have no idea whether it is still there!! Others have
had to hitch up vehicles and drag them out. And it doesn't help
when your sat nav identioes EX37 9SP as being in the oeld
below Brandywells, and tries to take you down Tongue Lake
Lane from Lightleigh Cross.
Trevor Chugg has
twice had to rescue
stranded motorists!
I once had to tow a transit tipper from Tongue
Lake ford in the all the way up to the road opposite Lightleigh Lane, and
one New Years Day I recovered brand new Land Rover Discovery from
our oeld off Spittle track for a family that had spent New Year at the Old
Rectory and pulled it back to the road below Wooda. I then washed it off
for them (as the brakes were clogged with mud) before their long drive
back to Liverpool!
