Planning and organising the structure of the day so the children will
arrive ready and excited for learning. Tuning in to the conversations
children have with each other especially in the role play area. It can be
very informative and highly amusing!

Never enough hours in the day!
Biggest change you have seen in the job over the years?
The curriculum is broad and children are expected to learn and retain
lots of information from a young age.

Walking, baking and going to see live music!

How long have you been teaching?
I have been working in schools for approximately 15
years, and as a class teacher for the last 3 years.
How long have you been teaching at Kings
Nympton Primary school?
I have been working for the Woodland Federation
for 5 years. I orst worked at Kings Nympton back in
2020, then I worked at Winkleigh Primary school as
maternity cover and returned as class one teacher in 2024.
What made you become a teacher?
I am a strong believer in life-long learning, and to achieve this we need
to build strong foundations and positive dispositions for learning. I am
passionate about building a positive, happy and fun learning
environment for children where children can thrive.
What do you ond most rewarding about your job?
Seeing the children engaged in learning and making links across the
curriculum. I love it when children are proud of their accomplishments.
What is a typical day for you?
I arrive at school at about 7:30 am, and set up the classroom for the day.
We do register and then Curious Quest, phonics then break-time
(comfort break and tea), maths and then guided reading, lunch time
(comfort break, lunch and more tea) we then have two curriculum
subjects, story then home-time. I tidy up the classroom, sort books and
create whatever I need for the following day. I leave school about 5-5:30
